i just finished Despair. in the end, this man commits a totally useless, pointless murder because he was stuck in his own head and lived fully in his delusions that he believed were real/artistic. idiot. hermann leaves his his own wife and lover with this false identity in his place, while he does some more stupid shit that eventually leads to his demise.
this is incredibly annoying.
